Demystifying Endowments – You Can Do It!
Janet Emery, Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Pressley
Ridge, Pittsburgh, PA; Len Iaquinta, Director, Special Gifts,
University Relations and Advancement, University of Wisconsin-Parkside,
Kenosha, WI.
Endowments are the fourth leg of a stable fundraising program. The
annual fund, fundraising events, and special or major gifts are the
others. Most agencies have stopped with these three. But neglecting
endowment building through planned giving robs your agency of its
greatest potential.
Learn from experienced practitioners how to launch a sound program.
Find what you need to know, what your Board’s role is, and how to
begin with a minimum of time and expense. Plus, learn how to analyze
your constituencies for prospects and partner with allied
professionals in the legal, financial services, accounting, and
insurance professions.

Does Prospect Research
Make Sense?
Nancy Dimond, Executive Director, Reunion and Internal Campaigns,
Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN; Barbara Ritchie, Director,
Griffith Centers for Children Foundation , Denver, CO
Mining for millions….are you missing donors because you don’t know
how to research? Join us as we unlock the mystery of donor research.
Database and information technology will continue to have the
greatest impact on the tools and processes used in prospect
research. Sophisticated researchers can check several dozen Web
sites while preparing an in-depth profile, but development officers
can find simple facts about donors by themselves, simply by
searching several key Web sites. We will show you where and how to
find information to help you expand your donor base. Significant
gifts are rarely serendipitous. Research is essential!

Donor-driven Branding: A Smarter Approach to Marketing
Anne Curley, President, Curley Communication
Attracting new major donors is challenging enough under ideal
conditions. If your organization's image is fuzzy or outdated,
well...good luck. Yes that's exactly the problem faxing many
organizations. So how does an organization get crystal-clear on the
brand identity it should be building and the "value proposition" it
should be highlighting for potential donors? The answer, says Anne
Curley, can usually be found inside the heads of your best current
major donors. In this workshop, Anne will walk us through a
streamlined approach to brand clarification and then facilitate a
discussion among participants on their own branding challenges and
insights.
