Nonprofit Leadership Deficit
Articles
A new survey,
Ready to Lead? Next Generation Leaders Speak Out,
represents the largest national survey to date of nearly 6,000
emerging nonprofit leaders. Although the survey finds a skilled,
committed, and diverse pool of next generation leaders that
would like to be nonprofit executive directors in the future, it
suggests there are significant barriers: work-life balance,
insufficient life-long earning potential, lack of mentorship and
overwhelming fundraising responsibilities which may prevent many
younger nonprofit staff from becoming executives.
The winter edition of the 2008 Alliance for Children &
Families Magazine also discusses the nonprofit leadership
deficit in a related article on the
Looming Battle for Leadership Talent. Learn about the
resources available to help Alliance members create successful
transitions and discover the steps you can take to achieve successful
leadership successions.
