Stop Treating Nonprofits Like They Don’t Exist, Says CEO
Dr. James F. Johans, CEO of
Northeast Parent & Child Society, challenged for-profit peers in New
York’s Capital Region by complaining to his chamber of commerce that
“I'm a nonprofit and you act like I'm not a business.” The message got
through and the chamber responded by creating the Tech Valley Nonprofit
Business Council, which provides specialized programming.

Member Engagement Includes Funding Support
The Alliance’s new five-year,
grant-funded project, The New Age of Aging: Building Competency and
Capacity in Human Services, will help determine how the human services
workforce can best serve the rapidly growing aging population and will
provide Alliance members with significant funding opportunities,
reaching more than $900,000 for some initiatives.
