New York Giants Help Children's Aid and Family Services

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and the New York Giants have launched a new charitable initiative, “Touchdowns for Families,” to support Alliance member Children’s Aid and Family Services.

“We’re excited that every time the Giants score a touchdown Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey will provide resources to make a positive impact in the lives of local children and families,” said William J. Marino, president and CEO Horizon BCBSNJ.

Under the Touchdowns for Families program, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey will donate $500 for every touchdown the New York Giants score in the 2007-2008 season. The money raised throughout the season will support Children’s Aid and Family Services in Bergen County. If the Giants advance to the NFL post season, Horizon BCBSNJ will increase its donation to $1,000 for each touchdown scored in each playoff game. If the Giants make the Super Bowl, Horizon BCBSNJ will increase its donation to $2,500 for each touchdown the Giants score in the Super Bowl.

“It is our pleasure to team with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and Children’s Aid and Family Services, Inc. to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in New Jersey, said Mike Stevens, senior vice president and CMO of the New York Giants. “Last season we scored 40 touchdowns; this year we hope to score even more to help needy families.”

“I would like to thank both Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and the New York Giants for coming together to support our organization,” said Robert Jones, Ph.D, president and CEO, Children’s Aid and Family Services. “The support of two such fantastic partners will also help us raise awareness of the critical needs of our clients. There are so many children who desperately want a foster or adoptive parent to love and nurture them and so many families who struggle daily just to provide food, shelter, diapers – the real basics – for their households. I know the wonderful people of New Jersey will come forward to help their neighbors once they know just how many are in need.”
