Aging Project Grants $8,000 Awards to Mentees
10 Alliance member organizations selected to
enhance aging services
The New Age of Aging
project has announced recipients of the 2008-09 Mentee awards as
part of its major mentoring initiative for members of the Alliance
for Children and Families. The following organizations will each
receive $8,000 mentee grants in recognition of their commitment to
improving the lives of older adults by building strong leaders in
aging.
Selected
organizations include:
- Catholic Social
Services of Oakland County — Pontiac, Mich.
- Centers for New
Horizons — Chicago, Ill.
- Children and
Families First — Wilmington, Del.
- ChildServ —
Chicago, Ill.
- Community
Counseling Center — Portland, Maine
- Family and
Children's Agency — Norwalk, Conn.
- Family Service
Agency of San Mateo County — San Mateo, Calif.
- Personal and
Family Counseling Services of Tuscarawas County
— New Philadelphia, Ohio
- Pillsbury United
Communities — Minneapolis, Minn.
- Scarsdale
Edgemont Family Counseling Service — Scarsdale,
N.Y.
Through their
proposal submissions, the selected mentee agencies
demonstrated motivation and commitment to grow in
the field of aging. Mentee grant recipients have
been partnered with mentor organizations and will
work together from May 2008 until June 2009 to
develop supportive learning relationships, motivate
leadership, and build organizational and staff
capacity related to aging. Go

Alliance member organizations that applied but were
not awarded a grant in this cycle or those that were
not able to apply for funds this time, there is
still time and other ways to get involved. The
minigrant RFP will again be released during June
2008. New Age of Aging is funded by The Atlantic
Philanthropies.
