New Age of Aging: Mentors

Mentor Grants Awarded

The Alliance for Children and Families New Age of Aging project would like to thank the 2008-09 Mentor grant applicants for their commitment to improving the lives of older adults by building strong leaders in aging.

Congratulations to the 2008-09 Mentor Grant Award Recipients! The following organizations were awarded $17,000 Mentor grants:

  • Child & Family Services of Newport – Newport, Rhode Island
  • Community Service Society of New York – New York, New York
  • Family and Child Services of Washington, DC – Washington, DC
  • Family Service Association of Greater Fall River – Fall River, Massachusetts

  • Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California
  • Metropolitan Family Services – Portland, Oregon
  • Partnership for Families, Children, and Adults – Chattanooga, Tennessee

Mentor grant recipients will be matched with partner organizations in April of 2008. Agencies will work together May 2008 – June 2009 to develop mentoring relationships, motivate leadership, and build organizational and staff capacity related to aging.

If you were not awarded a grant in this cycle or did not get a chance to apply for funds, there is still time and many ways to get involved. The Mentee RFP will be released January 7, 2008. Stay tuned for more information announcing grant and educational opportunities offered by the New Age of Aging.
