The Alliance for Children and Families has designated its annual National Family Week observance, Nov. 20-26, 2011, as a time to pay tribute to military families and the organizations that support and strengthen them. This coincides with November being National Military Family Month.

The Alliance for Children and Families has chosen 14 nonprofit organizations to participate in a pilot project that will explore, test, and develop an understanding of the elevation of strategy within nonprofit human service organizations. The pilot sites have been awarded a total of $2.5 million in grants.

The national nonprofit publication, The NonProfit Times, has named Peter Goldberg, president and CEO of the Milwaukee-based Alliance for Children and Families, to its annual Power & Influence Top 50 list for the ninth time.

A $290,000, two-year grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation will support the Alliance for Children and Families and United Neighborhood Centers of America (UNCA) for the establishment of a national initiative to measure the impact and identify the best practices of civic engagement.

During the sold-out United Neighborhood Centers of America (UNCA) 2011 Neighborhood Revitalization Conference July 21, Peter Goldberg, CEO of UNCA and president and CEO of the Alliance, encouraged attendees to strive for greater impact, saying, “While we, as nonprofits, need to be held appropriately accountable for outcomes, we also have to step above carefully-crafted outcome measurements and drive for higher goals of greater impact.”
