Face of Change Project

In 1999, the Alliance for Children and Families launched a Faces of Change project in collaboration with Alliance member Community Service Society of New York. The study collected 415 firsthand accounts of current and former welfare recipients affected by welfare reform.

The project resulted in two books—the first containing firsthand accounts from 100 current and former welfare recipients and the second containing a policy analysis—and a searchable archive of all 415 stories.
