Turning the Tide Program
Turning the Tide is a joint project of the Alliance for Children and Families and the national nonprofit organization Public Allies. The program recruits young, diverse professionals for employment in two-year fellowships at Alliance member organizations.
The Turning the Tide program was created in 2006 as a response to workforce-related challenges faced by the nonprofit human service sector. These obstacles include:
- A shortage of qualified, up-and-coming human service leaders
- Lack of interest in the human service sector among young, talented individuals
- The need for increased emphasis on succession planning
Alliance members that participate in the program benefit from:
- Time and cost savings related to human resources recruitment
- Access to a pool of highly motivated individuals with a demonstrated mission-based purpose
Turning the Tide fellows benefit from:
- Professional and leadership development opportunities offered by Public Allies
- Career experience and exploration
- A potential permanent job with the Alliance member organization
