Emily Putnam joined the Alliance for Children and Families Intellectual Capital Division in January 2011 as the organization’s evaluation and research associate. In this role, she consults with Alliance members around evaluation and research, including quantitative and qualitative methods, data collection and analysis, and evaluation design and implementation.
Putnam has extensive experience in community-based research, collaborative, community projects, and program evaluations.
She is a returned Peace Corps volunteer. Prior to joining the Alliance, she served in Turkmenistan. There, she aided primary and secondary teachers in improving students’ English skills by providing language learning techniques and methods for assessing and evaluating student needs.
Putnam attended graduate school at Illinois State University, where she received her master’s in sociology, with a focus in community and economic development. Her thesis focused on the attitudes and perceptions of college-educated, African-American women related to the use of midwives in childbirth.
