Linda Nguyen is director of civic engagement for the Alliance for Children and Families. In this capacity, she works with human service organizations throughout the United States to increase and enhance their civic engagement efforts. In turn, this work provides opportunities for thousands of people in underserved neighborhoods to meaningfully participate in their communities.

Nguyen joined the Alliance in 2005, and has led the development and execution of the Alliance’s Civic Engagement Program.

”The members of the Alliance serve and advocate with the most vulnerable people in our society,” she says. “I believe the most vulnerable people in our society have the most potential and desire to create strong communities … healthy, economically secure people and places, where education is a priority. The role of Alliance members in creating strong communities is absolutely critical.”

Prior to joining the Alliance, Nguyen managed volunteers and events at YWCA Berkeley/Oakland. She also wrote, edited, and translated for a website covering human rights in Chile and researched the civic engagement/advocacy practices of human service organizations in the United States.

She is member of several organizations, including:

  • OMB Watch Board of Directors
  • Management Assistance Group Board of Directors
  • Nonprofit Vote Leadership Council
  • District of Columbia Democratic State Committee Member

In her free time, Linda loves eating the best food the world has to offer, and running. But she says the interest in the running is mainly due to eating.
