Driving Mission, Vision, Strategy and Measurement Across the Enterprise
Mission is the motivating force behind every high performing nonprofit. In this workshop, we’ll draw on Engines of Impact to explore why mission matters most, how to develop a compelling mission statement, and how to move from mission to strategy to measurement. We'll also explore how to mobilize those around you to embrace the mission and its meaning in every major decision you make.
On the Road Study Tour: Examining Socioeconomic Mobility
Students will visit A Safe Haven Foundation, a social enterprise that helps people aspire, transform, and sustain their lives as they transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency with pride and purpose. Learn how the organization provides the tools to overcome the root causes of homelessness through a holistic and scalable model. A Safe Haven’s visible social and economic impact unites families, stabilizes neighborhoods, and creates vibrant, viable communities.
Wednesday, May 20
Nonprofits are only as strong as the finances that underpin and sustain them. In this workshop, we’ll draw on Engines of Impact and Stanford Social Innovation Review articles to learn the strategy behind developing a sustainable, diverse, and growing funding base to empower your mission. We'll explore how to develop and execute transformational gift strategies that will provide the fuel for your vision to be fully realized.
Building an EDI-Enriched Organization
Given the emergence of an interconnected and global society, building organizational capacity for advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion is more critical than ever. Ensuring all people feel valued at work and contribute to inclusive workplace cultures is an important strategy for achieving a healthy, productive, and peaceful society in which all people can participate and reach their full potential.
Students will explore their relationships with equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in a safe environment and create EDI action plans for their organizations. Because advancing EDI requires more than just basic knowledge and the will to improve, ELI Students will understand their own biases as well as the role of historical discrimination, non-inclusive behavioral actions, and culture in creating an unjust society.
