While more than 23,000 youth age out of the U.S. foster care system each year, most without the relationships and resources they need to be successful, Angie Seckler Williams knows there’s a better way. She is the regional director and senior trainer for The Open Table, an organization and innovative model where teams of adults make yearlong commitments to serve as life specialists, encouragers, and advocates for youth aging out.

In her Snapshots presentation, which she gave at the 2018 Alliance National Conference, Angie explains why The Open Table model is so successful, and how it led her and her extended family to build relationships with a young woman who Angie now considers her daughter.

Watch her Snapshot presentation on how The Open Table is redefining kinship and community to build lasting support systems for youth experiencing relational poverty.
